5 Signs That Your Man Loves You

I've written a lot about what it looks like if a guy isn't into you. Or if he's not ready to commit. Or if he has another girlfriend. (ok emphasis on that last one was a little gratuitous, but I was in a groove. What.) So I propose we get POSITIVE for a minute. Because Lord knows we could all use it at the end of the week.

Below, I've outlined 5 ways to tell that a guy is in love with you. We're talking, head-over-heels, I-can't-live-without-you, you-make-me-want-to-be-a-better-man, please-be-my-baby-momma L-O-V-E.

1) He puts you first.

Guys can be selfish. Hell, women can be selfish too. I'm not gender-discriminating, I'm just saying, single people like their "me time." And their "me activities." And their "me wants." When you love someone, all that becomes second fiddle to your One-and-Only's desires. A guy in love will consider his lady in every decision he makes and will do anything and everything in his power to make her happy. If you're happy, he's happy.

2) He thinks you're beautiful without makeup.

In fact, he prefers you barefaced, lookin' a hot-ass mess rolling out of bed for that 5am flight you booked for God knows what reason, hair flailing every which way. You roll over to say good morning, squinting through your crusted-over eyes, and all he can say is, "God, you look so beautiful in the mornings. I'm so lucky." Yeah. Dude's in lurve. (And possibly blind. But mostly in love.)

3) He looks at you, in that way.

This one's slightly harder to gauge. I don't want you running over to your BF's place and sitting him down for a 5-minute staring contest to see if his eyes get all googly. No. These are moments you barely catch, when you're doing the most mundane activities and you look over out of the corner of your eye and there he is, posted up, eyes glued to you, taking in every precious second, like he's watching an Oscar-winning performance. This happens in public too, and if you're out with his friends and they catch him staring, you'll likely get, "Holy... this guy really loves you, huh? Look at the way he looks at you." The proof is in the peepers.

4) He brings you home to mom.

He's probably not bringing every Tinder match home to meet the 'rents. He respects and values mom's opinion, and considers himself part of the vetting process. Getting an invite home means he loves you, he thinks his mom and dad are going to love you (or he sure hopes they will!), and wants to start integrating you into the family he sees you maybe one day becoming a part of. And if his invitation falls over a holiday? Giiiiirl, you better run and get a manicure stat.

[Editor's note: If you have a serial monogamist who rushes into things on your hands, well, that's a different story. But I trust you can gauge that level of crazy.]

5) He tells you.

Goodness, what a novel concept. But it's a brilliant one. As I've mentioned here before, guys are very good at telling you exactly where they stand, so when a man is in love with you, guess what? He's gonna let you have it. He's going to tell you he loves you, he's going to tell you he's going to marry you, he's going to tell his friends you're The One, he's not going to take no for an answer, he's going to do whatever it takes to be around you. Plain and simple.
