NYFW Backstage Beauty: Get the DVF Look in 4 Steps
As NYFW continues, our love affair with DVF rages on... Not only did she send her models down the runway in an updated collection of '70s throwback frocks, shorts-suits, and fur coats that would make Carrie Bradshaw crap her high-waisted bellbottoms, but she also complemented her winning styles with the most epic power bun.
“Our girl wants to look elegant and dressed up but she doesn’t want to look too fussy or prim and proper. We always aim to keep our models’ personality shining through in their look so that we don’t lose her sense of fun out on the runway.” Diane von Furstenberg
Considering we spend three out of five weekday mornings concocting new ways to hide our unwashed hair in an effort to save, well, effort and time, we're alllllll about this look.
Thanks be to GOD our friends over at Tresemmé have this look down pat. And in four steps, no less. Here, 4 steps to achieving the ultimate undone power bun. You're welcome.
- On damp hair, work a quarter-sized dollop of Tresemmé Runway Collection Get Sleek Blow Dry Balm through your hair root to tip and, using a blow dryer, dry hair straight back with no part using a soft bristle brush.
- Spray all over with Tresemmé Platinum Strength Fortified Hold Hairspray. Run your fingers through your hair to create texture as you pull into a low pony about an inch above the nape of your neck. Secure the pony with a thin elastic.
- Twist the pony into a flat bun and pin loosely on the sides with bobby pins. If a few flyaway pieces poke out of the bun, that's cool. It creates the effortlessly undone, soft, easy look you're after.
- Finish with another spritz of Tresemmé Platinum Strength Fortified Hold Hairspray.
Says stylist extraordinaire Orlando Pita about the look, “I like this return to very simple, soft looks we are seeing this season that don’t look over polished or styled. We used our fingers and a wide tooth comb to really break up the hair so that even though it pulls back to a beautiful low bun it still feels very lived in and has a little attitude.”
Boom. Your causal Friday look, completed.
