6 Skin-Saving Serum Foundations To Wear This Summer
So, looks like it’s about to be summer soon. This means, among other things, that it’s time for our hot-month seasonal makeup change-up. We’ve got our fingers in a new crop of summer-perfect skin perfectors that really work for that whole barefaced-and-bronzed beachy look. (That look, by the way, is all smoke and mirrors. It requires lots of skincare prep, appropriate concealer and coverage where you feel it necessary, bronzer, natural eyeshadow and loads of mascara. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.) We’re talking about serum foundations.
Serum foundations are multi-tasking makeup that are doing double duty.
It’s kinda like the concept of the BB cream but in a foundation and a treatment serum. They all essentially contain a bevy of anti-aging ingredients (think peptides, retinol, vitamin C, etc.) and do any number of anti-aging wonders, from firming skin’s appearance to improving texture and hydrating. And for us, at this stage in the game, we can use all the help we can get.
Plus, we think that if you’re slathering this stuff on your face every day, or even on special occasions (read: Saturday nights), it should be pulling its weight.
Things to note:
Expect anywhere from light to full coverage. But these foundations layer well. Build better coverage with multiple applications.
If you don’t blend well, the serum is absorbed by the skin leaving the color to sit on the surface of the skin. Use a sponge or very dense foundation brush to blend the crap outta these when applying.
They all pack in SPF, too (although don’t forsake your daily SPF application because you think the protection in these are enough. Word on the derm street is they usually aren’t.)
This stuff is great for dry skin, and we know for a fact that the Bobbi Brown version doesn’t set off acne-prone skin.
